I took this picture at the top of Mt. Bonnell at our first pause event. I was struck by the similarities between the text above and the visual images captured by the picture. Notice the dark shadows that imprison us. Notice the girl passively overwhelmed by the beauty of God’s glory of light. Many times as we stand in places like this, we ask ourselves probing questions…how am I to follow God? What gifts do I have? How can I break free of the barriers that hold me back? We are not the only people to ask such questions. We saw graffiti written on a picnic table saying “This is the year that I become”.
Imagine standing passively at the fence. How is God calling you to bring light to people? Each one of you will answer God’s call in your own way…through teaching, healing, listening, or helping.
Taking time to slow down to experience God, helps us discern how we are called to follow Jesus.
I too stood at the fence on Saturday. Visit our Pause link http://thepauselcm.wordpress.com to read how God challenged me at Mt. Bonnell, which led to the 1%, Sharon Jones and the Dap King, a worship service honoring Martin Luther King and understanding my daily call to follow Jesus.
