In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.” Matthew 2: 1-2.
Revealing Truth- Epiphany
I remember when my first girlfriend said she liked me! Guess I was 15 or 16, and her revealing her feelings to me was really awesome. I remember how her expression made me feel inside: kind of warm and happy and appreciative of everything. Wow! She likes me?! Think of some moments when someone’s self-revelation to you changed you and totally made your day.
I imagine those who saw the star over Bethlehem at Jesus’ baptism were also filled with emotion. The Season of Epiphany, beginning January 6, emphasizes this revealing of Jesus as the Son of God, as a light for the nations. If human self-revelation can bring about such changes in us, how about this revelation of divine goodness and love in Jesus Christ? Let’s start this semester trusting the revelation and power of this love in Jesus Christ. Pastor Paul
